Debbie Ballard’s early career in DNA research makes her unique among consultants. A scientist at heart, Debbie gravitated towards fundraising as a way to encounter and serve people in a profoundly personal way. Years of major gift fundraising in healthcare settings, like the Ronald McDonald House and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, reinforced her belief that the work of fundraisers and the generosity of philanthropists matter in so many unexpected ways. Having played integral roles in a range of nonprofit start-ups, as well as organizations with $1 billion campaigns, Debbie knows the power of philanthropy and feels strongly that “the value of what we do in life is seen in the personal encounter with those we serve.” The relationships of fundraisers and givers can and do make a world of difference in very real lives.
Debbie approaches her projects with a drive for mission and transformation. She expects results and knows that results flow from sound planning, solid research, right relationships and the special chemistry between counselor and client. With clear core values, a light heart and an analytical mind, Debbie brings each client the perspective of a skilled professional who is comfortable and approachable from the first meeting.
Although she was raised in Houston, Debbie has a great love of the outdoors and spent many summers on her family’s ranch. Whether she is fly fishing with her kids, or developing new relationships with clients on the golf course or in the board room, Debbie makes herself at home in any setting and adds value to each and every project she touches.
