Maria’s enthusiasm for philanthropy comes from a deep desire to contribute to something bigger than herself. For Maria, philanthropy is about impact. In college, she organized a community outreach art project for the Texas School for the Deaf, which fostered her sincere belief in the ability of non-profit organizations to accomplish great things. But it wasn’t until working with faculty to secure major federal grants for biomedical research that Maria really saw the power of fundraising and its ability to change lives for the better.
Maria’s experience at several large, multi-faceted non-profit institutions – the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation – provided her with valuable insights into fundraising, from major gifts to grant stewardship to donor relations. Maria comes to Dini Spheris with a broad range of fundraising and management skills, strengthened by her eye for detail, mind for numbers and flair for creative solutions.
Maria graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Art History and received a Masters in Public Administration from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
