Giving Back To Those Giving In Our Community: Houston National Philanthropy Day

(Houston, TX) – “Everything’s bigger in Texas”… that saying holds true of Houston National Philanthropy Day – an annual awards luncheon organized and presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Houston Chapter. This sell out event attracts more than 1,000 attendees who join together to celebrate Houston’s strong philanthropic spirit.

The luncheon and awards showcase the flourishing Houston philanthropic scene, individuals and organizations that selflessly give their time, resources and support to nonprofit organizations in the Houston community, and is a way to thank and collectively recognize these important contributors.

A longtime supporter of the Greater Houston Chapter’s efforts, Dini Spheris lauds two past luncheon chairs, and this year’s involvement is no exception. We are honored to continue our partnership and commitment with two Dini Spheris colleagues holding exciting roles in the annual festivities. Dawn Koenning of Dini Spheris will serve as the Luncheon Chair; and Principal M. Anne Murphy sits on the Board of Directors as well as has the M. Anne Murphy Award for Professional Advancement given in her honor.

Dawn brings over 14 years of major gift fundraising experience along with special event management, and more than seven years of leadership within AFP-Greater Houston Chapter. Serving as Luncheon Chair for the second time, Dawn has built an incredible team of volunteers to lead the luncheon to record-breaking fundraising and friend-raising heights.

M. Anne Murphy has spent her career helping advance the missions of organizations across the country. From her work in leadership roles in the nonprofit sector to the years she has spent teaching fundraising courses in collaboration with the Rice University Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. Deeply committed to professional development, the award established in her namesake recognizes an exemplary fundraising professional at the annual luncheon.
