The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy was in town for a week in November, thanking supporters while celebrating its 25th anniversary. The special guest was Barbara Bush’s daughter, Dorothy “Doro” Bush Koch. The reception was hosted by The Breakers and its president, Paul Leone.
Koch (pronounced “cook”) was recently named honorary co-chairwoman of her mother’s foundation. The Maryland initiative was founded in the 1990s and years ago established a reading-at-sea-and-home program, where service members deployed on the USS George H.W. Bush tape themselves reading books, and the videos are viewed by their children at home.
