Dallas – Resource Center celebrated the grand opening of its new LGBT Community Center on Saturday, May 21. The celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony, guided tours of the new facility, food and refreshments, entertainment and activities for all ages. Located at 5750 Cedar Springs Road in Dallas, the 20,000-square-foot building serves as a visual beacon for the LGBT community and its allies.

Resource Center is the primary lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) and HIV/AIDS service organizations in North Texas. The Center offers many LGBT services to the community and operates one of the largest LGBT Community Centers in the United States. The Community Center is home to a variety of community organizations and serves over 60,000 people each year through its programs and services.

“We are excited to open the doors and welcome all of North Texas to our beautiful new space,” said Cece Cox, Resource Center CEO. “Thanks to the generosity of donors and community partners of the capital campaign, we are able to ensure the well-being of Dallas’ LGBT youth and seniors and the mental health needs of our community.”

Resource Center’s capital campaign allows for new and expanded LGBT-focused services to meet the growing needs and demand of a diverse community. The Center is now 96 percent of the way to reaching its goal with a little over $344,000 left to raise. In addition to the new community center, the Reagan and Brown office and community space is currently undergoing remodeling improvements to consolidate HIV services, nutrition services and the food pantry, which is expected to reach completion later this summer.
