Congratulations to Star of Hope, Houston’s premiere service provider to homeless men, women and families, on the groundbreaking for the exciting new Cornerstone Community℠ transformational campus.

In 2012, Dini Spheris launched the Campaign Planning Study for what would become Cornerstone Community℠. Few doubted the impact and reach this unique community-based model would have in addressing a growing issue in greater Houston. Looking back, the success of this $54 million campaign might be summed up in three words: vision, perseverance and faith. We salute the Star of Hope staff and board leadership for their courage and unwavering focus on this life-changing goal.

On March 31, 2016, our friends at Star of Hope celebrated the groundbreaking for Cornerstone Community℠ and its campus development near Loop 610 and FM 288. This extraordinary concept was born under the leadership of former board member Mark McCollum, current chairman, Joe Sleeth, and Star of Hope CEO Hank Rush. Anticipated to be complete in summer 2017, Cornerstone Community℠ will provide shelter, comprehensive services, and supportive long-term housing to 180 single women and 105 families.

“The project is a result of more than 5 years of planning and will fulfill Star of Hope’s vision for new and broader services to the over 3,000 homeless women and their family members we serve each year.” said Hank Rush, President and CEO, Star of Hope Mission.

A unique feature of the campus will be the inclusion of facilities for Cornerstone Community℠ partners such as New Hope Housing which will construct more than 180 affordable housing units for permanent supportive housing, Buckner International, Work Faith Connection and Harris Health.

Dini Spheris is honored to have served as Campaign Counsel to the dedicated men and women of Star of Hope who have brought this project to fruition. Congratulations!
